The River Road Church of Christ (formerly Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ) began meeting as a congregation in July 1944, the first meeting facility was located at 426 Lincoln Avenue. In August 1968 the congregation moved into a new facility at 2023 River Road. Several years later the street named "River Road" was changed to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. From July 1944 to the present, ten gospel preachers served the River Road Church of Christ as ministers. Those who served are listed in the table above. Presently, the church has two Ministers, three Elders and four Deacons serving over 500 members.
In 1992 the church was organized as required by Christ. Three elders were ordained, front row from left to right Johnny H Moton, L H Wade and Irenus Brown. Four deacons were also ordained, back row from left to right,  Lamar Petties, Tom Terry, Isaiah Blackshear and Frank Mumphery.
