John Watson
Youth
Minister |
Betty S
Wiggins Secretary |
John
is a graduate of Monroe
Comprehensive High School and is currently working on his bachelor's
degree in Religion at Liberty University. In 2003, Mr. Watson
began working for River Road Church of Christ and World Vision
Albany as one of only two Youth Outreach Workers (YOWs) in the city of Albany. Mr. Watson was
assigned to Southside Middle School. Here he was responsible for creating mentoring and tutoring programs
that would address the holistic needs of youth through an
incarnation approach. Mr. Watson has been a motivational speaker
for the past three years. He has spoken to youth all over the city,
the nation, and the world with the message entitled "Keeping It
Real". For the past three years, Mr. Watson has traveled to Africa
to speak and hold workshops at the Youth for Christ
Conference. Mr. Watson currently serves as the program director of
the 4RE.AL. program. This is an intervention /prevention program for
at risk youth between the ages of 10-19 that fall victim to drugs,
pre-marital sex, gang violence, and all other inappropriate acts of
life. Bro. Watson also currently serves as the youth minister
of the River Road Church of Christ. He is married to the
beautiful Nakisha Harris, she is his jewel from God. John refers to
himself as the "Prodigal Son". Many good things could be said about
John Watson but the only thing that matters is that he is a young
man who fears God and tries to live everyday according to His
commandments. |
Betty
S. Wiggins received her B. S.
degree in Business Education with emphasis on Management from Albany
State University and her M.B.E. degree from Georgia State
University. For a very quick “minute” Betty thought about going
into teaching as a life profession, but, quickly turned her
attention to Industry. After working for more than 27 years as an
Administrative Assistant, Betty retired to work on several projects.
. . Owner and Operator of A & B Enterprises, a typing service
specializing in Resumes, computer training and tutoring, and forms
creation/duplication; Owner of A & B CUTS 4-U, a lawn care and
maintenance service; and most important ~ “Granny” to 6 grands and
several “adopted” grands. Betty feels she’s home when she’s sitting
in front of a keyboard, yet, many others feel her niche in life is
teaching. She has taught students from the college level to the
Nursery with a simplicity that takes your mind off how hard it will
be to ‘Oh, that’s easy to do.’ She seems quite at home creating
skits for the Nursery class she teaches on Sunday mornings, creating
activities and games for young and not so young folks for various
functions, and involving her grands in something other than the TV.
Betty began her work as Secretary at the Church in 2006. While her
favorite form to address an individual is “BOSS” she lets you know
that she will not be bossed around. Betty and her husband, Andrew,
are quite content with their grands living outside of Albany [in
other states]; that way, they have an excuse to go and visit when
they just get the notion. Is Retirement great or what? |
