        Eddie Moore

River Road Church of Christ has devoted twenty- eight years of service to men and women incarcerated in Dougherty and Terrell counties. United in this effort is Eddie Moore (Director/Teacher)~ Bros. Lonnie Clay, L. T. Laster, and Sis. Joanne Moore, Shirley Bailey, Betty Bell, Georgia Pierce, Monica Hall, Hattie Procter, Barbara Tinson, Brenda Brown, and Tyrescia Collier. These teachers attend to the spiritual and personal needs of our unfortunate but deserving inmates. Prison officials have been most receptive to ministers from the Church of Christ for their constancy. Whereas other religious representatives go to prisons preaching various forms of error, we let the Bible speak for us in all questions of doctrine. We do not need to waste time condemning error; we just teach the truth, constantly. We have made provisions for the difference in status of those persons being released from the Dougherty County Jail and those leaving Terrell County Correctional Institute.                                                                                                                                                                         The Jail has no facility for baptizing believers. So we have jail inmates expecting release to supply information that will enable us to do follow-up work, including setting up Bible classes. With those leaving the Correctional Institute, we are frequently dealing with Christian ex-offenders. We therefore refer them to Churches of Christ in communities where they will take up residence. We endeavor to help them make the necessary changes in their life-styles. Incarcerated people frequently lose all of their possessions. Tragically, in the case of women, they lose custody of small children who may be in the care of family members or in foster care. In either case the inmates needs are extreme, and we do our best to address those needs. At the Terrell County Correctional Institute, we have regular worship services with inmates conducting the services. Attendance is commendable and we have twenty- five Christian inmates currently on board. We are building a larger sanctuary there to accommodate the current growth in additions to the Church and the anticipated growth in the inmate population. Finally, we owe a debt of thanks to the inmates for their contribution of $1000.00 to the building program. We solicit the prayers and support of all the people in our efforts to continue preaching the Word of God to the prison bound.            JAIL AND PRISON MINISTRIES
Ministr our Many ministries here at River Road, we feel fortunate and blessed to have A Jail and Prison Ministry. This ministry has an open door of opportunity to minister to those who are incarcerated in city the jail as well as county facilities.
Bro. Eddie Moore ( Ministry Leader) along with his wife Joann are both very dedicated and committed to these ministries. They are assisted With a team of dedicated workers who are very instrumental with communications and grading Bible correspondence courses. Through the works of this Ministry some have been brought to Christ and others have been turned around to become productive and law abiding citizens. The River Road Church is very proud of this ministry and the elder in charge of it's oversight, highly recommends it's model to others who are interested in ministering to this population.
